The article was developed in collaboration with researchers from Universidad de Cuenca and Universidad de Costa Rica. This article has been published in the journal Hydrological Processes, Q1 in Water Science and Technology.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-style: inherit;\">This study not only increases the hydrological knowledge on streamflow generation in p\u00e1ramo catchments with the presence of lakes\/lagoons, but also presents a comparison of geochemical mixing models of different cost and mathematical complexity that allow determining the sources of water (precipitation, soils, springs, lakes) contributing to streamflow. Through this comparison, it is shown that a low cost and mathematical complexity model provides similar process-based understanding of p\u00e1ramo hydrology than a more complex and costly model.
