Ecología y conservación de ecosistemas de alta montaña. Actualmente, su investigación busca caracterizar la diversidad y funcionamiento de los humedales de páramo en el Ecuador, su dinámica de carbono, y los potenciales efectos del uso del suelo y el cambio climático y sobre la integridad y salud de estos ecosistemas. Adicionalmente, su grupo de investigación lidera varias iniciativas de restauración de turberas altoandinas, tratando de desarrollar métodos accesibles y económicos para recuperar ecosistemas de montaña.

Patrones de Distribución de Carbono en Ecosistemas de Páramo: Busca cuantificar y caracterizar los patrones espaciales de almacenamiento de carbono en ecosistemas de páramo.

Ecología, Distribución y Mapeo de Turberas de Páramo: En este proyecto tratamos de comprender los patrones de distribución y ecología de las comunidades vegetales asociadas a turberas de páramo. Al mismo tiempo, estamos desarrollando un mapa nacional de turberas de páramo para comprender su extensión y distribución a lo largo de los Andes Ecuatorianos.

Restauración de Turberas de Páramo: En colaboración con socios locales, buscamos desarrollar métodos accequibles y efectivos para la restauración del funcionamiento y estructura de turberas de páramo afectadas por actividades antropogénicas.
