Conjuntamente con colegas y estudiantes, estudiamos los factores que promueven la especiaci\u00f3n en los Andes y la Amazon\u00eda. Tambi\u00e9n investigamos el impacto de las especies y enfermedades introducidas en los ecosistemas tropicales, con el fin de aportar cient\u00edficamente a la biolog\u00eda de la conservaci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"kc-elm kc-css-872571 kc_accordion_section group \"><h3 class=\"kc_accordion_header ui-accordion-header\"><span class=\"ui-accordion-header-icon ui-icon\"><\/span><a href=\"#proyectos\" data-prevent=\"scroll\"><i class=\"\"><\/i> Proyectos<\/a><\/h3><div class=\"kc_accordion_content ui-accordion-content kc_clearfix\"><div class=\"kc-panel-body\"><div class=\"kc-elm kc-css-769311 kc_text_block list-style-one\"><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>EVOLUCI\u00d3N, DIVERSIDAD Y CONSERVACI\u00d3N DE LOS ANFIBIOS DEL ECUADOR: Este es un proyecto a largo plazo que busca documentar a las especies de anfibios del Ecuador, las amenazas a las que se enfrentan y los mecanismos m\u00e1s viables para su conservaci\u00f3n.<\/li>\n<li>EVOLUCI\u00d3N, DIVERSIDAD Y CUIDADO PARENTAL EN LAS RANAS DE CRISTAL: Las ranas de cristal son uno de los grupos m\u00e1s interesantes de anfibios en el neotr\u00f3pico. Estudiamos su diversidad, patrones de diversificaci\u00f3n y cuidado parental.<\/li>\n<li>DIVERSIDAD Y CONSERVACI\u00d3N DE LAS RANAS ARLEQU\u00cdN: En colaboraci\u00f3n con el Centro Jambatu trabajamos en comprender las diversidad de las ranas del g\u00e9nero Atelopus (uno de los m\u00e1s amenazados del mundo), promoviendo su conservaci\u00f3n en la naturaleza y en condiciones ex situ.<\/li>\n<li>REPTILES DEL ECUADOR: En estrecha colaboraci\u00f3n con Tropical Herping, estamos realizando una sistematizaci\u00f3n de la diversidad de los reptiles del Ecuador, trabajo que se publicar\u00e1 como un libro que complementar\u00e1 el ya publicado Reptiles of the Gal\u00e1pagos.<\/li>\n<li>GAL\u00c1PAGOS ECOLOG\u00cdA Y DIVERSIFICACI\u00d3N DE LAS IGUANAS MARINAS: Las iguanas marinas representan uno de los ejemplos m\u00e1s fascinantes de evoluci\u00f3n y adaptaci\u00f3n. En una colaboraci\u00f3n del Galapagos Science Center y la Universidad de Leipzig, estudiamos los procesos ecol\u00f3gicos asociados a la diversificaci\u00f3n de esta especie en las Islas Gal\u00e1pagos.<\/li>\n<li>GAL\u00c1PAGOS EFECTO DE LA PESCA EN TIBURONES: En el 2017, el barco Fu Yuan Yu Leng 999, con bandera China, fue detenido en la Reserva Marina de Gal\u00e1pagos. Este carguero conten\u00eda m\u00e1s de 7 mil tiburones. Gracias a la colaboraci\u00f3n entre el Parque Nacional Gal\u00e1pagos, el Laboratorio de Ingenier\u00eda Ambiental USFQ y el Galapagos Science Center logramos acceder a muchas de estas muestras y as\u00ed poder estudiar la magnitud de la pesca a esta escala, as\u00ed como su impacto en la salud humana debido a la acumulaci\u00f3n de metales pesados.<\/li>\n<li>AMAZON\u00cdA DIVERSIDAD DE ANFIBIOS: En un trabajo ambicioso, en colaboraci\u00f3n con el Pontif\u00edcia Universidade Cat\u00f3lica do Rio Grande do Sul, el American Museum of Natural History y la Universidad de los Andes, estamos estudiando el origen, evoluci\u00f3n y diversidad de anfibios de la Cuenca Amaz\u00f3nica.<\/li>\n<li>P\u00c1RAMOS: Comunidades de invertebrados en \u00e1reas termales. Estudiamos la biogeograf\u00eda de invertebrados en r\u00edos con influencia termal en los p\u00e1ramos del Ecuador.
