Interests

My main research interest is to collaborate from a human point of view with ideas, messages, and new contributions to science on behalf of the strengthening and conservation of the country's biodiversity and ecosystems considering the various environmental services we receive in return.

Projects

  • Carbon distribution patterns in páramo ecosystems: this project seeks to quantify and characterize the spatial patterns of carbon storage in páramo ecosystems.
  • Ecology, distribution, and mapping of páramo peatlands: in this project we try to understand the distribution patterns and ecology of the plant communities associated with páramo peatlands. At the same time, we are developing a national map of páramo peatlands to understand their extent and distribution throughout the Ecuadorian Andes.
  • Restoration of páramo peatlands: in collaboration with local partners, we seek to develop accessible and effective methods for restoring the functioning and structure of páramo peatlands affected by anthropogenic activities
