Environmental compensation

About USFQ SUSTAINABLE BIOSPHERE:

What is Environmental Compensation?

All activities carried out by human beings such as the use of any means of transportation, food production or energy consumption, have inherent impacts on the environment. Although we cannot completely eliminate all these, there are mechanisms to repair them through specific environmental compensation programs. Compensation is a retribution to the environment for the negative impacts generated, and it has become a widely accepted strategy as a viable and pragmatic mechanism for the conservation of biodiversity and the struggle against climate change. We offer two easy and transparent ways to compensate the environmental impacts of companies or individuals: through Biosphere Bonds or direct donation to research projects. Even if individual activities are small, they can have a big impact when added to thousands of others!

WHAT ARE BIOSPHERE BONUSES?

The Biosphere Bonuses allow the environmental compensation of carbon emissions by supporting different projects in Ecuador. This is a transparent and valid way of compensating the environmental print of companies and individuals. We ensure that the Biosphere Bonuses have not only environmental impacts, but also social and economic co-benefits, since each Biosphere Bonus invests in a portfolio of projects:

Carbon and biodiversity: certified carbon credits for the conservation and restoration of Andean forests or paramos.

Research: climate change and dynamics of Andean forest or paramo ecosystems.

Environmental education: education in rural schools and colleges that include a relationship with nature.

Our conservation and restoration projects are ISO 14064 certified and registered in the national registry of the Ministry of the Environment.
