DRYvER is a joint project that spans across Europe and Latin America with the objective of understanding how biodiversity, ecosystem functions, and ecosystem services in Drying River Networks (DRN) are directly and indirectly affected by climate change. In this context, the successful Postdoctoral candidate will participate in hydrological modelling and in predicting biodiversity changes in a local (Ecuadorian) DRN.

Specifically, he/she will be in charge of developing in-depth understanding of the flow intermittence data in order to implement and validate a spatially-explicit hydrological model, and apply this knowledge to predict aquatic metacommunity (fish, invertebrates and microorganisms) responses to drying. The successful candidate will be in charge of planning and coordinating field and laboratory work, data compilation, processing and analysis, as well as leading the development of project deliverables and supervising students. We expect the candidate to travel regularly to the locations in the study area, participate in project meetings and trainings inside and outside the country, collaborate with international and national DRYvER teams, present at scientific meetings and publish several papers related to this project in peer-review journals. The candidate must:

• Hold a PhD in ecology, hydrology or related field,
• Have a record of scientific publications (at least three scientific publications indexed in Scopus or Web of Science)
• Three years of experience (PhD research included) that demonstrates aptitude and skills in relevant fields
• Excellent English communication skills (excellent oral and written English)

Interested applicants should submit a cover letter explaining their interest in the position, a CV (max 2 pages), and include two reference contacts. Please send the application as a single PDF file to biosfera@usfq.edu.ec

APPLICATIONS WILL BE RECEIVED FROM AUGUST 18 TO SEPTEMBER 11, 2020.
Short list interview will be from Sept 16 to 18th 2020. The successful candidate will be notified on September 20th, 2020.
