INTERNATIONAL EARTH DAY

This April 22 we celebrate International Earth Day, to raise awareness among the population about the importance of environmental conservation, promoting a balance between humans and nature. This Earth Day we are happy to share with you a great initiative. USAID – US Agency for International Development funds the Sustainable Wetlands Program, implemented by the U.S. Forest Service and the CIFOR-Latin America International Forestry Research Center with the support of the Universidad San Francisco de Quito-USFQ. The program seeks to conserve paramos and wetlands, as they are critical for climate change mitigation and adaptation and it is our commitment to protect them. As an example of this commitment, this Earth Day, the Ambassador of the United States to Ecuador, Michael J. Fitzpatrick visited the Chakana reserve, together with the Director of the Biosphere Institute Esteban Suárez.
